Tamil Phonics for Kids

Learn to sound out Tamil words for Nursery (N2), Kindergarten 1 (K1) and Kindergarten 2 (K2). Each word is broken into its letters (aksharas) — children hear each letter sound in turn, then say the whole word, with a picture and audio to guide them.

What your child practises

  • Hearing each Tamil letter sound, one akshara at a time.
  • Blending the letters back into the whole word.
  • Saying the word aloud, prompted by the friendly Enthira mascot.
  • Every word comes with a picture and clear audio, drawn from the Nursery, K1 and K2 vocabulary.

Tamil phonics — sound it out, then speak

Phonics is where reading begins. Each Tamil word is sounded out one akshara (letter unit) at a time and then blended into the whole word, so children connect letters to sounds and gain the confidence to say Tamil words aloud. The words come from the same Nursery, K1 and K2 vocabulary as the guided Academy lessons, with a picture and clear audio for every word.

Frequently asked questions

What is Tamil phonics?

Phonics is sounding out a word letter by letter, then blending the sounds into the whole word. In Tamil, each word is broken into its aksharas (letter units) so children learn how the letters build the word.

What age is the phonics practice for?

It is made for preschool and kindergarten children (about ages 3–6) learning to read Tamil — the Nursery (N2), K1 and K2 levels.

How does it help my child read Tamil?

Children hear each letter sound in turn and then say the whole word, with a picture and audio for every word. This links letters to sounds and builds the confidence to read and speak Tamil aloud.

Do I need a subscription?

The Speak (phonics) step inside each lesson is included for registered learners. The full Phonics hub — practising every word across a level — is part of a paid subscription.
